Novena to St. Padre Pio

Novena to St. Padre Pio

(9 days)

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART

I. O my Jesus, You have said: "Truly I say to you, ask and it will be given you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you". Behold I knock , I seek and ask for the grace of ...

... Our Father - Hail Mary - Glory be to the Father

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You.

II. O my Jesus, You have said: "Truly I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father in my name, He will give it to you." In Your Name I ask the Father for the grace of ...

... Our Father - Hail Mary - Glory be to the Father

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You.

III. O my Jesus, You have said: "Truly I say to you, heaven and earth will pass away but My words will not pass away." Encouraged by Your promise, I now ask for the grace of ...

... Our Father - Hail Mary - Glory be to the Father

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, for whom it is impossible not to have compassion on the afflicted, have pity on us and grant us the grace which we ask of You, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Your Mother and ours.

... the Hail Holy Queen ... St. Joseph, Foster Father of Jesus, pray for us.

First Day

St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you had the signs of the Passion of Christ on your body. You carried the stigmata for everyone, enduring both the physical and mental sufferings in a continual sacrifice. We ask you to pray for us, so that we may be able to accept the crosses we too must bear during our life here and offer our sufferings to God.

“It is to your advantage to commit yourself to the sufferings that Jesus will send to you. Jesus cannot tolerate seeing you afflicted and he will come to you and comfort you, blessing you with many graces for your soul”. Padre Pio

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART (above)

Second Day

Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, together with Our Lord, you were able to withstand the temptations of the Evil One. You suffered beatings and oppression from the demon of hell, who wanted to have you abandon your journey of holiness. We ask you to pray for us so that, with your help and the help of all of the Heavenly Kingdom, we will find the strength to renounce sin and persevere in faith until the moment of our death.

“Have courage and do not fear the assaults of the Devil. Remember this forever; it is a healthy sign if the devil shouts and roars around your conscience, since this shows that he is not inside your will”. Padre Pio

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART (above)

Third Day

St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you love Our Lady and you received graces and consolations daily through her intercession. We ask you to pray to Mary for us. Place our petitions in her hands, so that, as at Cana, her Son may say ‘yes’ to her and grant our prayers.

“Mary has to be the star that illuminates your path and she will show you the secure way to go to the Celestial Father. She will be an anchor to which you must cling in the hour of temptation”. Padre Pio

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART

Fourth Day

St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you loved your guardian angel, who served you well as your guide, defender and messenger. Angels would often bring to you the prayers and petitions of your spiritual children. Pray for us, that we may learn to call on our own guardian angel, who is always ready to inspire us to what is truly good and holy.

“Invoke your Guardian Angel, who will enlighten you and guide you. God has given him to you for your protection, therefore, you should use him accordingly”. Padre Pio

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART

Fifth Day

St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you had a great devotion to the souls in purgatory, for whom you offered yourself in order to cancel their debt. Pray for us, and ask God to send us the same interest, compassion and love that you have for these souls. In this way, we will also contribute to reducing their suffering and, with our sacrifices and prayers, win for them their necessary Indulgences.

“My God, I beg you; let me bear the punishments that have been prepared for sinners and the souls in Purgatory. Multiply these punishments for me, so that you may forgive and save the sinners and free their souls from purgatory”. Padre Pio

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART

Sixth Day

Obedient St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you loved the sick more than yourself, because you saw Jesus in them. You performed miracles by healing patients in the name of Jesus, thereby giving them peace of mind. We beg you to pray for us, so that sick patients, through the intercession of Mary, can be healed and their bodies restored so that they may thank and praise God forever.

“If I knew that a person was afflicted in his mind, body or soul, I would beg God to set him free of his affliction. I would gladly accept the transfer of his affliction to myself, so that he may be saved, and I would ask that he benefit from the fruits of these sufferings... if the Lord would allow me to do it”. Padre Pio

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART

Seventh Day

Blessed St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you have worked in “God’s Plan for Salvation”, by offering your sufferings to free sinners from the chains of the Devil. We beg you to pray for us, so that unbelievers will be converted to the faith, that all sinners will repent in their hearts and that those with lukewarm hearts will find renewed enthusiasm for a Christian life. Finally, pray for all those who are faithful, so that they will persevere on their way to salvation.
“If the people of the World could only see the beauty of ones soul when it is in the grace of God, all sinners and unbelievers of this world would be instantly converted”. Padre Pio

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART

Eighth Day

Pure St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you experienced great love for your spiritual children and have helped them by purchasing them for Christ with the giving of your blood. Please grant us, who have not met you personally, the opportunity to be considered your spiritual children. In this way, with your protection, guidance and strength, you will obtain for us a special blessing from God, so that we may meet Him on the day of our death at the gates of Heaven.

“It would be most fulfilling, if God would grant me just one wish (if it were possible); that He would say, “Enter Heaven!” This is my one true wish; “That God would take me to Heaven at the same time that the last of my children and the last of the people who submitted to my priestly care have entered”. Padre Pio

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART

Ninth Day

Humble St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you who loved the Roman Catholic Church, pray for us. May the Master send workers to the harvest and give them the strength and knowledge needed to be children of God. Pray that Our Holy Lady will unite Christian people everywhere, comforting all of them in one great house of the Lord, the lighthouse of our salvation in the storm of life, as a lighthouse is a beacon for safe return when there is a storm at sea.

“You must always keep yourself on the straight and narrow path in the Holy Catholic Church because She is the only Bride of Christ and can bring you peace. She alone possesses Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, who is the true Prince of Peace”. Padre Pio

Prayer to Saint Rita

Prayer to Saint Rita of Cascia
"Saint of the Impossible"

O HOLY PATRONESS of those in need, St. Rita, whose pleadings before thy Divine Lord are almost irresistible, who for thy lavishness in granting favors hast been called the Advocate of the Hopeless and even of the Impossible; St. Rita, so humble, so pure, so mortified, so patient and of such compassionate love for thy Crucified Jesus that thou couldst obtain from Him whatsoever thou askest, on account of which all confidently have recourse to thee, expecting, if not always relief, at least comfort; be propitious to our petition, showing thy power with God on behalf of thy suppliant; be lavish to us, as thou hast been in so many wonderful cases, for the greater glory of God, for the spreading of thine own devotion, and for the consolation of those who trust in thee. We promise, if our petition is granted, to glorify thee by making known thy favor, to bless and sing thy praises forever. Relying them upon thy merits and power before the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we pray thee grant that (here mention your request).

Obtain for us our request
By the singular merits of thy childhood,
By thy perfect union with the Divine Will,
By thy heroic sufferings during thy married life,
By the consolation thou didst experience at the conversion of thy husband,
By the sacrifice of thy children rather than see them grievously offend God,
By thy miraculous entrance into the convent,
By thy severe penances and thrice daily bloody scourgings,
By the suffering caused by the wound thou didst receive from the thorn of thy Crucified Saviour, By the divine love which consumed thy heart,
By that remarkable devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, on which alone thou didst exist for four years,
By the happiness with which thou didst part from thy trials to join thy Divine Spouse,
By the perfect example thou gavest to people of every state of life.
Pray for us, O holy St. Rita, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us Pray
O GOD, Who in Thine infinite tenderness hast vouchsafed to regard the prayer of Thy servant, Blessed Rita, and dost grant to her supplication that which is impossible to human foresight, skill and effort, in reward for her compassionate love and firm reliance on Thy promise, have pity on our adversity and succor us in our calamities, that the unbeliever may know Thou art the recompense of the humble, the defense of the helpless, and the strength of those who trust in Thee, through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

O great and magnificent God, my Lord Jesus Christ, I implore thee to enlighten me and to dispel the darkness of my soul. Give me a strong faith, firm hope, perfect charity. Prayer To Saint Anthony of Padua

Prayer To Saint Anthony of Padua

O Holy Saint Anthony, gentlest of Saints, your love for God and charity for His creatures made you worthy when on earth to possess miraculous powers. Miracles waited on your word, which you were ever ready to speak for those in trouble or anxiety. Encouraged by this thought, I implore you to obtain for me... (Here mention your request.) The answer to my prayer may require a miracle; even so, you are the Saint of Miracles. O gentle and loving Saint Anthony, whose heart was ever full of human sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the sweet Infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms. and the gratitude of my heart will ever be yours. Amen.

Memorare of St. Joseph

Memorare of St. Joseph
Remember, O most illustrious Patriarch St. Joseph, on the testimony of St. Teresa, thy devoted client, never has it been heard that anyone who invoked they protection or sought thy mediation has not obtained relief. In this confidence I come before thee, my loving protector, chaste spouse of Mary, foster-father of the Saviour of men and dispenser of the treasures of His Sacred Heart. Despise not my earnest prayer, but graciously hear and obtain my petition... (Here mention your request.)

Let us pray.

O God, Who by Thine ineffable Providence didst vouchsafe to choose St. Joseph to be the spouse of Thy most holy Mother, grant, we beseech Thee, that he whom we venerate as our protector on earth may be our intercessor in Heaven, Who livest and reignest forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer to St. Benedict

Prayer to St. Benedict

Dear St. Benedict, you are a "blessing" indeed, as your name indicates. Practicing what you preached, you founded the monastic tradition of the West by joining prayer to labor for God - both liturgical and private prayer. Help all religious to follow their Rule and be true to their vocation. May they labor and pray for the world to the greater glory of God.

God our Father, You made St. Benedict and outstanding guide to teach men how to live in Your service. Grant that by preferring Your love to everything else, we may walk in the way of Your commandments.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me show love.
Where there is injury, pardon,
Where there is doupt, faith,
Where there is despair, hope,
Where there is darkness, light,
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned
And it is in dying that we are born into eternal life.

Novena Prayer to St. Joseph

Oh St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God, I place in you all my interest and desires. Oh, St. Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession, and obtain for me from your divine Son all spiritual blessings, through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. So that, having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers. Press Him in my name and kiss His fine head for me and ask Him to return the Kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls - Pray for me.

A Little History
This prayer was found in the fiftieth year of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In 1505 it was sent from the Pope to Emperor Charles when he was going into battle. Whoever shall read this prayer or hear it or keep it about themselves, shall never die a sudden death, or be drowned, nor shall poison take effect on them; neither shall they fall into the hands of the enemy, or shall be burned in any fire or shall be overpowered in battle.

Say for nine mornings for anything you may desire. It has never been known to fail, so be sure you really want what you ask.

The 15 Magnificent Prayers of Saint Bridget of Sweden

The 15 Magnificent Prayers of Saint Bridget of Sweden

Based on the Passion and Death of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
To be recited every day of the year as a means of honoring (during one year’s recital) each of the wounds received by Our Blessed Lord during His bitter Passion.
“If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For he that will save his life, shall lose it: and he that shall lose his life for my sake, shall find it.” –Matt. 16:24-25

FIRST PRAYER
Our Father-Hail Mary
O Jesus Christ! Eternal Sweetness to those who love Thee, Joy surpassing all joy and all desire, Salvation and Hope of all sinners, Thou Who hast proved that Thou hast no greater desire that to be amongst men, even assuming human nature during the course of time for love of men, recall all the sufferings which Thou hast endured from the first moment of They conception, and especially during They Passion, as it was decreed and ordained from all eternity in the divine plan.
Remember, O Lord, that during the Last Supper with Thy disciples, having washed their feet, Thou gavest them Thy precious Body and Blood, and while at the same time Thou didst sweetly console them, Thou didst foretell them Thy coming Passion.
Remember the sadness and bitterness Thou didst experience in Thy soul as Thou prayed: “My soul is sorrowful even unto death.”
Remember all the fear, anguish, and pain Thou didst suffer in Thy delicate body before the Crucifixion when, after having prayed three separate times, bathed in a sweat of blood, Thou wast betrayed by Judas, Thy disciple, arrested by the people of a nation Thou hadst chosen and elevated, accused by false witnesses, unjustly judged by three judges: all this in the flower of Thy young and during the solemn Paschal season.
Remember that Thou wast despoiled of Thy garments and clothed with the garments of derision; that Thy face and eyes were veiled; that Thou was buffeted, crowned with thorns, a scepter placed in Thy hands; that Thou wast fastened to a column and crushed with blows and overwhelmed with affronts and outrages.
In memory of all these pains and sufferings which Thou didst endure before Thy Passion on the cross, grant that before I die, I may make with true contrition a sincere and entire confession, make worthy satisfaction, and be granted the remission of all my sins. Amen.

SECOND PRAYER
Our Father-Hail Mary
O Jesus! True Liberty of Angels, Paradise of Delights, remember the horror and sadness Thou didst endure when Thy enemies, like furious lions, surrounded Thee, and by thousands of blows, insults, lacerations, and other unheard-of cruelties, tormented Thee at will.
Through these torments and insulting words, I beg Thee, O my Savoir, to deliver me from all enemies, both visible and invisible; and under Thy protection may I attain the perfection of eternal salvation. Amen.

THIRD PRAYER
Our Father-Hail Mary
O Jesus! Creator of Heaven and Earth, Whom nothing can encompass or limit, Thou Who dost enfold and hold all under Thy loving power, remember the very bitter pain which Thou didst suffer when the Jews nailed Thy sacred hands and feet to the cross by blow after blow with big blunt nails, and not finding Thee in a pitiable enough state to satisfy their rage, enlarged Thy wounds, and added pain to pain, and with indescribable cruelty stretched Thy body on the cross and dislocated Thy bones by pulling them on all sides. I beg of Thee, O Jesus, by the memory of this most holy and most loving suffering of the cross, grant me the grace to fear Thee and to love Thee. Amen.

FORTH PRAYER
Our Father-Hail Mary
O Jesus! Heavenly Physician, raised aloft on the cross in order that through Thy wounds ours might be healed, remember the bruises Thou didst suffer and the weakness of all Thy members, which were distended to such a decree that never was there pain like unto Thine. From the crown of Thy head to the soles of Thy feet, there was not one spot of Thy body which was not in torment; and yet, forgetting all Thy sufferings, Thou didst not cease to pray to Thy Heavenly Father for Thy enemies, saying: “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
Through this great mercy, and in memory of this suffering, grant that the remembrance of Thy most bitter Passion may effect in us a perfect contrition and the remission of all our sins. Amen.

FIFTH PRAYER
Our Father-Hail Mary
O Jesus! Mirror of Eternal Splendor, remember the sadness which Thou experienced when, contemplating in the light of Thy Divinity the predestination of those who would be saved by the merits of Thy sacred Passion, Thou didst see at the same time the great multitude of reprobates who would be damned for their sins; and Thou didst complain bitterly of those hopeless, lost, and unfortunate sinners.
Through this abyss of compassion and pity, and especially through the goodness which Thou displayed to the good thief when Thou saidst to him, “This day thou shalt be with Me in Paradise,” I beg of Thee, O sweet Jesus, that at the hour of my death, Thou wilt show me mercy. Amen.

SIXTH PRAYER
Our Father-Hail Mary
O Jesus! King most loving and most desirable, remember the grief which Thou didst suffer when, naked and like a common criminal, Thou was raised and fastened to the cross; when all Thy relatives and friend abandoned Thee, except Thy beloved Mother, who remained close to Thee during Thy agony, and whom Thou didst entrust to Thy faithful disciple when Thou saidst to Mary, “Women, behold thy son,” and to St. John, “Behold Thy Mother.”
I beg of Thee, O my Savior, by the sword of sorrow which pierced the soul of Thy holy Mother, to compassion on me in all my afflictions and tribulations, both corporal and spiritual, and to assist me in all my trials, and especially at the hour of my death. Amen.

SEVENTH PRAYER
Our Father-Hail Mary
O Jesus! Inexhaustible Fountain of Compassion, Who by a profound gesture of love said from the cross, “I thirst,” and Who suffered from the thirst for the salvation of the human race, I beg of Thee, O my Savior, to inflame in our hearts the desire to tend toward perfection in all our acts, and to extinguish in us the concupiscence of the flesh and the ardor of worldly desires. Amen.

EIGHTH PRAYER
Our Father-Hail Mary
O Jesus! Sweetness of Hearts, Delight of the Spirit, by the bitterness of the gall and vinegar which Thou didst taste on the cross for love of us, grant us the grace to receive worthily Thy precious Body and Blood during our life and at the hour of our death, that It may serve as a remedy of consolation for our souls. Amen.

NINTH PRAYER
Our Father-Hail Mary
O Jesus! Royal Virtue, Joy of Mind, recall the pain Thou didst endure when, plunged in the ocean of bitterness at the approach of death, insulted, outraged by the Jews, Thou didst cry out in a loud voice that Thou was abandoned by Thy Father, saying: “My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?”
Through this anguish, I beg of Thee, O my Savior, not to abandon me in the terrors and pains of my death. Amen.

TENTH PRAYER
Our Father-Hail Mary
O Jesus! Who art the beginning and end of all things, life and virtue, remember that for our sakes Thou wast plunged into an abyss of suffering, from the soles of Thy feet to the crown of Thy head. In consideration of the enormity of Thy wounds, teach me to keep, through pure love, Thy commandments, which are a wide and easy path for those who love Thee. Amen.

ELEVENTH PRAYER
Our Father-Hail Mary
O Jesus! Deep Abyss of Mercy, I beg of Thee, in memory of Thy wounds, which penetrated to the very marrow of Thy bones and to the depth of Thy being, to draw me, a miserable sinner overwhelmed by my offenses, away from sin and to hide me from Thy face, justly irritated against me; hide me in Thy wounds until Thy anger and indignation shall have passed away. Amen.

TWELFTH PRAYER
Our Father-Hail Mary
O Jesus! Mirror of Truth, Symbol of unity, Link of Charity, remember the multitude of wounds with which Thou wast afflicted from head to foot, torn and reddened by the spilling of Thy adorable blood. O great and universal pain which Thou didst suffer in thy virginal flesh for love of us! Sweetest Jesus! What is there Thou couldst have done for us which Thou hast not done?
May the fruit of Thy sufferings be renewed in my soul by the faithful remembrance of Thy Passion, and may Thy love increase in my heart each day until I see Thee in eternity, Thou Who art the treasure of every real good and every joy, which I beg Thee to grant me, O sweetest Jesus, in Heaven. Amen.

THIRTEENTH PRAYER
Our Father-Hail Mary
O Jesus! Strong Lion, immortal and invincible King, remember the pain Thou didst endure when all Thy strength, both moral and physical, was entirely exhausted; Thou didst bow Thy head, saying: “It is consummated.”
Through this anguish and grief, I beg of Thee, O Lord, have mercy on me at the hour of my death, when my mind will be greatly troubled and my soul will be in anguish. Amen.

FOURTEENTH PRAYER
Our Father-Hail Mary
O Jesus! Only Son of the Father, Splendor and figure of His Substance, remember the simple and humble recommendation Thou didst make of Thy soul to Thy eternal Father, saying, “Father, into Thy hands I commend My spirit,” and when, Thy body all torn and Thy heart broken and the bowels of Thy mercy open to redeem us, Thou didst expire. By this precious death, I beg of Thee, O King of Saints, to comfort me and give me help to resist the devil, the flesh, and the world, so that, being dead to the world, I may live for Thee alone. I beg of Thee at the hour of my death to receive me, a pilgrim and an exile, returning to Thee. Amen.

FIFTEENTH PRAYER
Our Father-Hail Mary
O Jesus! True and Fruitful Vine! Remember the abundant outpouring of blood which Thou didst so generously shed, pressed down and running over as the grape crushed in the wine-press.
From Thy side, pierced with a lance by a soldier, blood and water issued forth until there was not left in Thy body a single drop; and finally, like a bundle of myrrh lifted to the very top of the cross, Thy delicate flesh was destroyed, the very substance of Thy body withered, and the marrow of Thy bones dried up.
Through this bitter Passion, and through the outpouring of Thy Precious Blood, I beg of Thee, O sweet Jesus, to pierce my heart, so that my tears of penitence and love will be my bread night and day. May I be converted entirely to Thee; may my heart be Thy perpetual resting-place; may my conversation be pleasing to Thee; and may the end of my life be so praiseworthy that I may merit Heaven, and there with Thy saints praise Thee forever. Amen.

A little information about these prayers:
St. Bridget relates the following: As she had been desirous for a long time to know the number of blows Our Lord received during His Passion, Jesus revealed to her: “I received 5,480 blows upon My Body. If you wish to honor them in some way, say fifteen Our Father prayers and fifteen Hail Mary prayers with the following prayers [which He then taught her] for a whole year. When the year is finished, you will have honored each one of My wounds.” To this Our Lord added the promise of signal graces to be received by those who practice this devotion.
St. Gertrude the Great, St. Mechtilde and St. Catherine of Siena have all revealed that those who meditate on Our Lord’s Passion are very dear to Him. St. Francis de Sales says that the Passion should be the ordinary subject of every Christian. Jesus revealed to St. Albert the Great that He was more pleased if we meditate on His Passion and Death for 15 minutes than if we were to fast on bread and water every Friday for an entire year. And St. Augustine writes that “there is no more profitable occupation for the soul than to meditate daily on the Passion of Our Lord.”
These beautiful prayers, given to us by St. Bridget of Sweden, are an easy and efficacious means of meditating daily on Our Lord’s Passion and Death. May the Faithful embrace this devotion and promote it widely.

PRAYER TO OBTAIN FAVORS - St. Andrew Prayer

PRAYER TO OBTAIN FAVORS

HAIL and blessed be the hour and moment in which the son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in piercing cold. In that hour vouchsafe, O my God! to hear my prayer and grant my desires, through the merits of Our Saviour Jesus Christ, and of His blessed Mother. Amen.

(It is piously believed that whoever recites this above prayer fifteen times a day from the feast of St. Andrew (30th Nov.) until Christmas will obtain what is asked.)
